Microdermabrasion at Home

Posted under Skin Care by Wayne on November 24th, 2007 5:17 pm

Not so long ago the only way in which you could experience the benefits of microdermabrasion was at the hands of a professional at a beauty salon or clinic. Today the skin care industry has on offer an almost bewildering selection of microdermabrasion at home kits but which one should you choose to use as part of your regular skin care regime?

Neutrogena was one of the first companies to realize the potential market in such products and their “At Home MicroDermabrasion System” became an, almost instant, hit with customers. Today it remains one of the better quality home microdermabrasion kits that are available and it is also very reasonably priced. The system uses the very same crystals which are used in the professional salon machines but rather than blasting them onto the skin they are suspended in a cream which is applied to the skin using the supplied hand tool. The hand tool has a number of replaceable heads which move gently so that the crystals can exfoliate deeply in a far more effective manner than your usual home facial.

How to Cure Hair Loss in Women

Posted under Hair Care by Wayne on November 20th, 2007 12:39 am

The heartbreak of hair loss isn’t just a male issue. While you may think that to be the case, did you know that one out of every four women have to deal with hair-loss too? And it hits a woman harder since our self image is in part wrapped up in our hair. Which makes how to cure hair loss in women a much more pressing issue.

“Know what? There are a lot of dumb things we do to our hair in the name of beauty that contribute to the problem,” admitted Kay Gibson. She and best friend Melinda Jacobs were having a spur of the moment lunch to discuss Kay’s “problem”.

“While I realize over two thirds of female hair loss is linked to genetics it’s still hard to live with,” confided Kay. “And from what I read at the salon, this isn’t to say the popular myth that hair loss is passed from your mother is true. It’s not. You can get bad genes from you mother, your father, or both.” Read the rest of this entry »

Six Tips for Long Lasting Summer Nail Polish

Posted under Nail Care by Wayne on August 13th, 2007 7:37 am

Warm weather is here, and that means most of us will be wearing nail polish more often to show off our hands and feet. The barer summer clothes and sandals mean your feet and hands will be center stage, so putting a few extra minutes into proper nail care is must for the prettiest looks. Whether you are applying nail polish to your hands or toes, the basic principles to make your manicure or pedicure last are the same.

1. Prepare your nails properly before polishing. Nail polish won’t adhere well to nails that are dirty or oily. Wash your hands thoroughly to remove any lotions, dirt or oils, and then brush each nail with a bit of nail polish remover. This will remove all oils from the nail itself and prepare it for accepting polish. Read the rest of this entry »

Use Makeup Correctly to Look Good

Posted under Makeup Tips by Wayne on August 10th, 2007 5:24 pm

For most women, being in a cosmetics and makeup store is much like a child would feel in a candy shop. There’s just so many good things around but you don’t know where to start! However, just as it is with having too much candy, too much makeup can cause undesirable results.

“Less is more” is a practical makeup mantra – which means makeup is to enhance your natural appearance, not to create an artificial one.

One way of knowing if you wear too much makeup is by being aware of other people’s reactions when you don’t have your makeup on. They should not be able to discern whether you are wearing makeup or not. If they aren’t, then you’re practically a master at your makeup routine. But, if people can readily tell you’re wearing makeup then perhaps you should look at these tips on how to use makeup to make a natural look your best one. Read the rest of this entry »

Hair Straighteners - What to Look for

Posted under Hair Care by Wayne on July 10th, 2007 5:28 pm

For many years women have been paying to have curls placed in their hair. The latest perms were all the rage. Today, time have changed and everyone seems to want to straighten their hair now. Chemical straighteners were somewhat popular to help people temporarily remove their natural curls, kinks and waves.

Today, however, electrical hair straighteners have replaced these earlier chemical straighteners.

Hair straighteners are available from many different manufacturers and are designed with two flat plates which heat up to very high temperatures. Placing a section or hair between these two flat plates will result in smooth, whip-straight hair.
The vast majority of hair straighteners are made with ceramic plates which do the job of protecting the hair from heat damage. Using hair straighteners seems to be the hair trend for today. It is especially popular among teenage girls who all seem to have one. Read the rest of this entry »
