How to Look, Feel and be Years Younger Naturally
Part One of a series of fascinating articles by Derek Boughton about
Â
How To Look Years Younger Naturally.
Â
Derek is in his sixties, though most people meeting him assume heâs in his forties. He is frequently asked how he has so much energy and looks so youthful. He now reveals all in his must-read new book âHow To Look Years Younger Naturallyâ and on the website www.YearsYoungerNaturally.com  where you can also access several free items.
Â
Although my book covers all areas of your body and many other important factors, the following series of articles is about your face which I address specifically in Chapter 2. This is the most visible part of our body, the one that we look at every day; so itâs the area where we and others first notice the ravages of time. That fearful cry of âmy God, I have a wrinkleâ is often heard in somebodyâs 30s and from thereon becomes a frequent âOh my God, I have another wrinkleâ! Well I am continuously being told how few wrinkles I have and frequently asked how I have prevented them. As even Ava Gardner once said âMy face, shall we say, looks lived in.â So if the age of your face worries you then the techniques Iâm about to describe are just what youâve been waiting for to look more youthful. I will explain how to prevent your face getting wrinkled and aged too quickly and even how to rejuvenate those that have already succumbed to father time.
Â
In my book How To Look Years Younger Naturally, I provide a lot of information and views on anti ageing subjects such as creams and potions, soaps, exfoliation, make-up, exercises of all sorts, sunshine, massage, smoking and so on. Sometimes I might seem rather controversial, especially regarding apparent common knowledge, much of which has actually been promulgated by the PR companies of large corporations or by overzealous though well-meaning organisations. But perhaps the most interesting of all is the improvement that you can realise by performing Facial Isometric exercises. And right now, thatâs what I want to share with you since they will definitely keep your face looking more youthful, perhaps 10 or 15 years younger. Like everything described in my book, they are a completely natural treatment.
Â
The main reason that a face (and skin generally) appears to age is because the multitude of small muscles just under the skin start to sag, essentially due to a lack of use. In some cases, the issue might be that the muscles have tightened up permanently such as due to stress. Wait a moment, I hear you say, most of my wrinkles are actually âsmile linesâ and I still use those muscles to smile. Well that may be true but most muscles in the body have a âcounterâ muscle, that is, one that works in the opposite direction. By the way, while it takes 17 muscles to smile, it takes 40 to frown, so just smiling doesnât actually exercise most muscles! Typically, in their faces, people only use muscles in the one direction (and sadly, many donât even use muscles much in any direction). So the way to overcome this is the very same thing that you would do to prevent other muscles in the rest of your body from atrophying and that is to exercise them. Usually, muscles are attached to bones. However, in the face, most are attached to each other or to the skin and this is why the skin appears to sag when actually it is the muscles drooping. A little known but very important function of our muscles is to act as pumps for the blood and lymph vessels. When those in the face have lost their normal tone, these fluids are not moved into and out of the facial area and this inadequate circulation leads to poor complexion and lack of natural, healthy colour. Believe it or not there are 53 muscles in your face and Iâm about to explain how I give most of those a workout.Â
Â
I first came across Facial Isometrics many, many years ago. In fact, back then, isometrics generally was a popular form of exercise and general muscle training. Perhaps I should first give an explanation of isometrics. In traditional fitness training, weights are used to create opposition to the muscles while they are moved throughout a given range of motion. Isometrics on the other hand has no motion but the muscles are pushing against an immovable object which might indeed be a fixed object or more interestingly other parts of the body, often the same muscle in the opposite side of the body. Having explained this, it is perhaps apparent that so-called âFacial Isometricsâ are not actually isometric at all since we will be using the face muscles to move throughout their whole (albeit restricted) range of movement! In the book, there’s a picture showing where and what are the major muscle groups in the face that we are going to work with.
Â
It doesnât look very pretty without the skin. But you can see fairly clearly why it is easy to get baggy eyes, loose jowls and so on. You might now also be getting insights into one of the drawbacks to surgical facelifts. These operations simply stretch the skin and cut the excess away but if in addition you do not strengthen the underlying muscles then the new look probably wonât last long! Even more disconcerting is the possibility of a poor surgeon removing or stretching muscle by mistake. Another advantage of Facial Isometric Exercises is that they help blood circulation which keeps your skin clear, smooth and healthy. I donât see how a face lift can help in these areas. Yet another side benefit is that it releases tension which can really show on your face. With less tension there is also likely to be less headaches. Not something a face lift would cure!
Â
I have been doing these Facial Isometric Exercises for many years. However, donât think that it will take you that long to get results. I believe that you will see positive changes within a few weeks. The whole set of exercises takes me about 10 minutes or so but I do each individual exercise for about 50 repetitions. When you start, you will probably only do around 10 – 20 repetitions (known as reps) and gradually build up. Those of you that have worked out with weights in the gym will know that if you push hard enough you can get a âburningâ sensation in your muscles. Serious muscle builders work hard to achieve this intensity. Since you hardly ever use these face muscles, you will probably experience this burning feeling. I suggest that you donât do more than 2-3 extra reps with this particular muscle after feeling this sensation. I usually vary the speed at which I perform a set of reps â some I do longer and slower, others I do faster. With many of the muscle groups that are replicated on each side of the face, we will be repeating the following pattern â do left side, do right side, alternate left and right, do both sides together. This way you will be really working them out! One other word of advice â when you first start doing these exercises, look at yourself in the mirror to ensure that you really are working the relevant specific muscles. Some of you will be a bit put off by what you are seeing but once you get the hang of it, you can do it anywhere you feel comfortable (which for most people means where nobody can see them!).
Â
In Part 2, weâll get onto the actual exercises. If you canât wait then go to the website YearsYoungerNaturally.com.
Derek Boughton has several books in the self help category. The first one âHow To Look Years Younger Naturallyâ was in response to people continuously asking him how he was so youthful and full of energy; is it surgery or products such as pills or creams? Itâs none of these but he vowed to reveal the âsecretsâ of what is responsible. Now you too can benefit from the natural techniques to be discovered at www.YearsYoungerNaturally.com as well as find freebies.
The Benefits of Mango Butter in Natural Skin Care

The Benefits of Mango Butter in Natural Skin Care
When you think of mango butter you are likely not thinking of skin care, but of some exotic tropical treat, tasting delicious and fabulously expensive. Not so. Mango butter is not fabulously expensive, but it is exotic and is also fabulous for your skin.
You have a wide choice of natural skin care products from which to choose, so it is bewildering why so many people opt for one or other of the commercial synthetic products full of harsh substances that have been proved time and again as potentially harmful. Consider any of the synthetic surface-active agents that have been added to emulsify the oils, and also to enable the preparation to wet out on your skin and penetrate your pores.
These are the same substances that are used in industrial detergents to enable the product to wet floors and other surfaces. Do you really want to use these on your skin? Or how about any of the mineral oil derivatives, such as petrolatum, that isolates your skin from the outside world? Sure, it protects it, but it also prevents your skin acting naturally, preventing it from acting as a cooling unit for your body and preventing the excretion of many toxic substances in your sweat and through the sebaceous glands.
In other words, such substances can do harm by preventing your skin doing the job nature intended. Natural oils and butters, on the other hand, moisturize without preventing the passage of moisture. They are not only obtained from natural sources but also permit your body to work naturally.
Nor are any animal products used in mango butter, or any other natural skin care product! Not like many of the expensive commercial preparations that contain substances such as collagen and elastin. These come from a variety of sources, including animal skins and ground chicken feet. Do you really know what is contained in that stuff you are rubbing into your skin? Are you happy in that ignorance?
With mango butter you need not worry about such things because it is 100% natural. It is packed full of beneficial antioxidants to keep your skin looking smooth and young, and helping to prevent its destruction by the free-radical generating industrial and traffic pollution, the pesticides that surround us due to modern agricultural techniques, the ubiquitous tobacco smoke and even the sun’s rays.
Scientifically, it contains substances known as triterpenes and needs no added chemicals to offer its antioxidant properties to your skin. You will likely find ‘preservatives’ in your commercial preparation, under that or another obscure name. Mango butter contains natural preservatives that help to preserve your skin, and so preserve your youthful looks.
What more could you ask for than an exotic skin care product that is derived 100% from natural plant sources, protects your skin from the ravages of modern industry and living, contains no synthetic detergents or any other harmful substances, is inexpensive, and above all makes your skin feel luxuriously soft and supple? That is mango butter!

Coffee Butter: Natural Skin Care Against Free Radical Attack
Coffee butter is a natural product, and as such is significantly kinder to your skin and to your general well-being than the vast majority of synthetics. If you check out the ingredients list of most commercial skin care products you will find a number of them that you would not normally use on your skin by choice such as surfactants that are the basis of detergents.
Coffee butter contains coffee butter, produced from the oil extracted from coffee beans and frequently blended with sunflower and soybean oil. It is then lightly hydrogenated to thicken it up into a butter that is easily smoothed onto your skin, making it feel silky smooth.
As you would imagine, one of the important ingredients is caffeine, and just as it stimulates you in the morning, so it stimulates your skin. Signs of aging skin, such as wrinkles, are cause by your skin losing moisture and also by the effects of free radicals that will be discussed shortly. Caffeine tightens up the skin, and so helps to iron out some of these wrinkles such as the crow’s feet around your eyes and so-called laughter lines, a euphemism for wrinkles around the sides of your mouth.
Coffee butter is packed full of substances known as antioxidants that are very beneficial to your health in general and your skin in particular. Free radicals are small molecules generated by your metabolism, and also by pollutants such as insecticides and traffic and tobacco smoke.
Free radicals destroy the integrity of the cells in your body, leading to many problematic health defects. Where it affects your appearance is by destroying the membranes of your skin cells, and so leads to accelerated aging and wrinkles. Free radicals are also generated by the effect of the UV contained in sunlight, which is one of the reasons why those that live in hot, sunny climates tend to end up skin of a more creased and leathery appearance unless they have the natural darker skin coloring that protects their skin.
Antioxidants destroy these free radicals, and so help to preserve the integrity of your skin cells that allows you to maintain a more youthful appearance. In fact coffee is by far the richest source of antioxidants for Americans. The main antioxidants contained in the butter are phytophenols, of which chlorogenic acid is found in particularly high concentrations in coffee oil.
There are many others, and coffee is significantly richer in these important substances than even cranberries or blueberries. By rubbing coffee butter into your skin you are not only giving it a wake-up call with the caffeine, but also a longer-lasting treatment of antioxidants that will keep it looking younger and fresher.
Have you ever checked the ingredients of any of the very expensive skin creams? You will finds that they contain the common antioxidants such Vitamins A and E, and also some of the less common which is what you will be paying for. Coffee butter is richer than any of these and a darn sight cheaper, so you don’t have to spend a fortune for top-class skin care. Coffee butter will do it for you.
